Wait for God

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. (Romans 12:9-13)

Romans 12:12 is an encouragement to us to pray and wait.

We are to continue steadfastly in prayer and we are to wait patiently.

We are to find hope in God.

With the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption (Psalm 130:7).

God does not depend on our time.

God will act at the fullness of His time.

Our prayer may not necessary rush God into action, but it places us before Him in fellowship.

What a privilege we have to fellowship with God in prayer and to wait for the answer in the fullness of His time.

Continue in Prayer

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."
- Colossians 4:2 -

A large portion of the Bible is occupied with the subject of prayer, either in furnishing examples, enforcing precepts, or pronouncing promises.

We find a wrestling Jacob, Daniel who prayed three times a day, and David who with all his heart called upon his God.

We see Elijah praying on the mountain; Paul and Silas praying in the prison.

We have multitudes of commands to pray.

We have myriads of promises of prayer.

All these teach us the importance and necessity of prayer.

Whatever God has made prominent in His Word, He intended to be conspicuous in our lives.

If He has said much about prayer, it is because He knows we have much need of it.

So deep are our necessities, that until we are in heaven we must not cease to pray.

A prayerless soul is a Christless soul.

Prayer is the lisping of the believing infant, the shout of the fighting believer, the requiem of the dying saint falling asleep in Jesus.

It is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the strength, the honor of a Christian.

If we are children of God, we will seek our Father's face, and live in our Father's love.

Let us learn to be holy, humble, zealous, and patient.

Let us have closer communion with Christ, and enter often into His love.

Let us be an example and a blessing to others.

Let us live more to the glory of our Master.

And let us continue in prayer.

Hope

But if we hope for what we do not see,
we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
- Romans 8:25 -

Hope is a powerful motivator.

What we love, we pay attention to it.

But what we hope, we motivate ourselves in that direction. We see to it that it happens the way we want.

When hope is beyond our control, we will still pray for it, wish for it, or worry about it.

Hope is a longing, a desire, or an expectation of fulfillment.

It can be passive or intensely active.

It can be for evil or for good.

Let us be sure we have the right hope.
